This complex commercial add-on was developed in collaboration with a team of engineers and the marketing manager. While meeting the deadline was very important here, as the app’s release was scheduled to align with the marketing plan, developing the app’s workflow and the set of featured tools remained an innovative feedback process for the most part of the development phase.

The app itself is designed to process drawings exported from Bentley RAM, a specialized post-tensioned concrete reinforcement slab design program. It enables engineers to analyze solutions, edit processed drawings, perform calculations, and generate tables with ease.

Project modules:

  • Automatic Calculation Tables and BOM

    A module that extracts data from the drawing database, performs calculations, and generates tables. It utilizes predefined formulas while allowing users to adjust specific parameters through a settings panel.

  • Automatic Drawing with Data from Multiple Sources

    A one-click solution to automate drawing using data from imported drawings, text files, and user input. It converts machine-generated drawings into easily analyzable and editable formats or, if the imported design is correct, can be printed right away.

  • Complex User Interface System

    The UI system is designed to accommodate a vast array of tools, commands, and parameters, including calculation settings, geometric adjustments, and graphic display options. Built entirely with native AutoLISP and DCL—without relying on third-party solutions like OpenDCL—it ensures full compatibility with all AutoCAD versions from 2010 onward.

  • Design Analysis – Warning System

    This module enables designers to visualize both geometric and design errors. It also includes filtering options, allowing users to focus on specific error types for more efficient troubleshooting.

  • License Management

    This module manages license validation for the add-on. It connects to an online server via a REST API to update the license status, encrypt the data, and securely store it locally for offline verification. It also includes the installer/ uninstaller modules.

  • Real Time Calculations

    The module features an event-aware script that calculates and updates attribute values for block sets linked to specific polylines. This association has the same effect as the associative dimensions but can be customized to execute a wide range of actions

  • Text/Label Clash Solver

    This module implements an algorithm to automatically determine the optimal placement for overlapping text. It primarily works with labels as dynamic blocks but can also be applied to leaders and dimensions.
